About Ashiatsu

What is Ashiatsu?
Ashiatsu is a barefoot massage technique where the therapist uses their feet to deliver slow, steady pressure across the body. Overhead bars provide balance and control, allowing for long, flowing strokes that ease tension and help the body unwind.

Does it hurt?
It shouldn’t. The pressure is deep but smooth, and the overhead bars make it easy to adjust at any moment. You’re always encouraged to speak up so the session stays within your comfort zone

Who is it good for?
Ashiatsu is especially helpful for people who:
  • Prefer medium to very deep pressure
  • Sit at a desk for long hours
  • Have chronic tension in the back, hips, or shoulders
  • Are active or athletic
  • Desire a grounding, restorative experience

Your First Session

What should I expect during my first session?
We’ll start with a brief check‑in about your goals and any areas that need attention. During the massage, you’ll lie comfortably on the table while I use my feet to apply slow, controlled pressure. Most people settle into a calm, restful state quickly. For a deeper look, you can read my full guide on What to Expect in an Ashiatsu Session.

How do I prepare?
• Stay hydrated before and after
• Avoid heavy meals right beforehand
• Share any injuries, sensitivities, or recent changes
• If needed, a quick shower or freshen‑up beforehand can feel nice

What should I wear?
You’ll be professionally draped at all times, with only the area being worked on uncovered, so you'll undress to your comfort level.

How will I feel afterward?
Most people feel lighter, looser, and more at ease. Mild soreness can happen after deeper work and often feels similar to the day after a good workout.

Policies & Practical Details

What if I’m pregnant?
Ashiatsu isn’t recommended during pregnancy due to the level of pressure involved. I’m happy to refer you to trusted prenatal options.

Cancellation Policy
You can cancel or reschedule up to 48 hours before your appointment. Late cancellations or no‑shows are charged the full session rate.

Running Late
If you’re running behind, I’ll do my best to give you a full session, but your appointment may need to end at the scheduled time to respect the next client.

Do you offer gift certificates?
Yes. Gift certificates are available year‑round and make a thoughtful, restorative gift.

How often should I come in?
It depends on your goals. Ashiatsu tends to create lasting change, and we can often accomplish a lot in one session. Some people come more frequently when working through chronic issues, while others come monthly for stress relief or as needed for mind/body maintenance.
