Say Goodbye to Back Pain with Ashiatsu Massage

Say Goodbye to Back Pain with Ashiatsu Massage

Back pain is one of the most common ailments affecting people worldwide, disrupting daily lives and diminishing quality of life. If you're tired of endless discomfort, it’s time to discover the ancient art of Ashiatsu massage. This unique therapy is not just a treatment; it’s a transformative experience that can help you reclaim your life.

What is Ashiatsu Massage?

Ashiatsu, meaning 'foot pressure' in Japanese, is a form of deep tissue massage where the therapist uses their feet to apply pressure. Using parallel bars for balance and control, they deliver deep, smooth, consistent strokes that traditional hand techniques simply cannot achieve. It's ideal for individuals seeking relief from chronic back pain, because Ashiatsu massage targets the deeper layers of muscles and connective tissues which offers more efficient and longer lasting results.

Benefits of Ashiatsu Massage for Back Pain

  1. Deep Tissue Relief: Unlike traditional massages, Ashiatsu enables therapists to apply broader, firmer pressure, effectively relieving deep-seated tension and restrictions.
  2. Enhanced Blood Circulation: The sweeping strokes improve blood flow, reducing inflammation and promoting faster recovery.
  3. Improved Posture: By releasing the restrictions and adhesions that cause tight muscles, Ashiatsu helps restore alignment and flexibility.
  4. Relaxation Redefined: Beyond pain relief, the rhythmic strokes create a deeply relaxing experience, easing both body and mind.

Is Ashiatsu Right for You?

If you've tried other massage therapies without much lasting results, Ashiatsu offers a game-changing alternative. Each session is tailored to your body's needs for maximum effectiveness, and it's particularly beneficial for individuals with chronic back pain or high stress jobs. It's also ideal for people who LOVE medium, deep, or very deep pressure, athletes with overworked muscles, and anyone seeking a holistic approach to wellness.

Finding a Qualified Ashiatsu Therapist

When searching for an Ashiatsu therapist, I recommend prioritizing someone who is a licensed therapist, has great reviews, and who 100% absolutely loves what they do ... which you'll certainly find here with me at Sole Symphony Ashiatsu Massage.

Say Goodbye to Back Pain Today

Don’t let back pain hold you back any longer. Ashiatsu massage offers a natural, effective solution to restore balance and vitality to your life. Embrace the path to wellness and experience the profound benefits for yourself.

Hope to see you soon!

New Ashiatsu Massage Video is Up

It's true that I've taken some time off from making videos, but I was recently inspired to make a new Ashiatsu Massage video from my studio here in Austin.

It felt incredible to break through the resistance and figure out the things I needed to do to upgrade the audio and create voiceover or overlapping segments of videos like this.

I just had to commit and dive in, even if I had no idea what I was doing. Have you ever done something like that?

Anyway, the video is called:
3 Things I Love About Ashiatsu Massage. I could tell you all about it or you could just click on the link below. Enjoy!

Deep Tissue Massage on SoCo in the '04

Visiting for a Massage on South Congress? Here's what you need to know.

If you're looking for an amazing deep tissue barefoot massage on South Congress or in the 78704, then you've come to the right place.

As you may already know, South Congress is a popular part of town. Sometimes parking near my studio is a breeze and other times it can be quite busy.

If you're a lucky new or recurring Ashiatsu massage receiver, then I've got your fresh parking update right here.

First of all I would say, if you want to avoid the crowds, I suggest trying to swipe one of those new 10am weekend openings, because parking is always wide open at those times. It's magical too when SoCo is so quiet and chill.

On the parking map posted below, which is also posted on my location page, it shows all the free parking areas nearby. There are quite a few areas surrounding the studio which are free and open to the public.

The latest update though is that there's now an app associated with the back-in angle parking on South Congress. No other streets are affected by this update. If you prefer to park on SoCo before your massage, here's the link to get the app and try it out:

Park ATX | AustinTexas.gov

They charge $2 per hour to park there, and any parking costs can be deducted from the cost of your session. Let me know if you park there, and I'll automatically apply the discount at checkout.

If you park on SoCo and don't use the app (or if you park on a neighborhood street marked 'no parking'), well, the good news is that they *DON'T* tow ... but *IF* they're checking the area and notice, then it's a $20 ticket.

The upside to this new 'parking on SoCo' system is that I've noticed more openings out front since they started it.

My desire is for you to be able to swoop down and land a great parking spot before your massage, but I know sometimes it can take a bit of finesse.

As always, the studio space will be serene and chill for you once you get settled, and before you know it, you'll be melting into the massage table and feeling those aches and pains washing away more and more with each breath.

It'll be fun and relaxing - I promise.

Let's make some magic, and I look forward to seeing you soon!

It's July 2023, and that means I've been specializing in Ashiatsu barefoot massage for 14 years.

What a blessing to LOVE this work every day, still. Refining and upgrading skills over the days, weeks, months, and years definitely keeps it interesting.

Thanks for helping me to listen with feet,
to relax into intuitive flow,
to channel those good vibes.

Below is an actual picture from my July 2009 planner with random sketch excitement coming out in advance of the class.

Little did I know how transformative this work would truly become for me and for all those who I have the honor to work with.

THANK YOU!!!

What to Expect for Your 1st Session at Sole Symphony Ashiatsu Massage in Austin, TX

11/29/2022

When you're coming in for your 1st Ashiatsu massage appointment here at Sole Symphony you might be feeling some aches and pains, but you might also be noticing some curiosity and excitement - some looking forward to the relief of how good the massage will feel.

And that's a beautiful place to start.

Ashiatsu massage is a blissfully relaxing style of deep tissue barefoot massage where I get to help relieve your aches and pains by walking all over you.

I always schedule extra time with new clients to fill out a brief intake form and discuss any questions or concerns you may have. I'm curious how your body is doing, what needs extra work, and are there any old injuries or areas to be careful of.

When you're here with me, you can rest easy and relax into our time together knowing you're in good hands and under incredibly skilled feet.

I'll show you around my space, instruct you to what's next, and step out while you get ready. Some people wonder whether if they should disrobe completely or leave their underwear on. Both options are good. In either case I use sheets for draping personal areas, so you'll feel safe and cozy throughout the entire session.

I apply massage oil over the body briefly with the hands before getting started with the foot work, and it's easy to adjust the pressure to more or less as needed once we get going.

Often I'll start the warm up with a feet and hands combo on the shoulders, neck, and upper back which is mind-blowingly delicious. Most people power down from this technique within minutes, and I love seeing the working signs as your body and nervous system begin to decompress ... every breath and every touch helping you go deeper and deeper relaxed.

Your muscles are going to love it, and I look forward to bodysurfing you into oblivion, so you can schedule online through my welcome page or click the link below to book now:

On another note, it's been a while since I posted a blog here on my site, or a video to my YouTube channel for that matter, so I will tell you now (whether you're newly finding me or a long time fan) that I'm grateful for your support.

I love what I do still. After 18 years of doing massage therapy and 13 of those years specializing in Ashiatsu barefoot massage in Austin, Texas, it's still one of my top favorite things ever to be helping people in such a profound way.

I'm stirring things back up with my online resources, so let me know what you think. If you have any questions, blog post ideas, or video suggestions, post in the comments below.

Thanks. Love you guys! ~ Christina, Sole Symphony

DIY Foot Scrub - Show Your Feet Some Love!

DIY Foot Scrub - Show Your Feet Some Love!

Priority #1, as a barefoot massage therapist: Foot care

Part of what helps me provide the best possible Ashiatsu massage care for my clients is having soft, smooth, and sensitive feet. People ask me, can you really feel as much with your feet as you do with your hands? The answer is, yes, and keeping them in top notch condition makes that 100% possible.

My go-to DIY foot scrub is super easy to make, and you might have everything you need at home already.

Ingredients:
- 1/2 cup of salt (fine salt, not coarse)
- 2 tablespoons of olive oil
- 5 drops of essential oil (or 1 teaspoon of aromatic ingredients like lemon zest or cinnamon)

To make the scrub:
Simply mix the ingredients together and put them in a jar with a lid.

To use the scrub:
1. Soak, shower, or bathe your feet
2. Apply scrub to wet feet and calves - scrub thoroughly
3. Rinse well, dry well, and massage any remaining oil into the feet and legs

*BE CAREFUL: too much oil remaining on the feet afterwards can be slippery.

Mother's Day is right around the corner.

Make it for yourself or gift it to someone you love. I've got a few ready-made ones at my studio, if you'd rather just buy one when you come in for a massage.

They smell like fresh mint and lemon tartlets. So good!

Here's a great link for additional scrub making ideas:

Let me know how it goes, and surprise me with what fragrance you chose in the comments below. Happy scrubbing to you my friends!

Elbow Pain/Injury +DIY Ashiatsu Massage!

8/22/2016

Having elbow pain from injury or repetitive-stress can be incredibly frustrating. Pain on the outer elbow is commonly referred to as tennis elbow, while recurring pain on the inner side of the elbow is commonly know as golfer's elbow. In the video below, I cover 2 self-care techniques. #1 is a pretty darn awesome self massage tool that I used in my own recovery from tennis elbow, and the other, #2 is an easy, do-it-yourself Ashiatsu massage tutorial that you can do on yourself for relieving forearm tension.

A little bit of deep tissue care on a regular basis can make a world of a difference in getting better AND staying better.

I advocate for the ArmAid tool, because it's been a huge help for me. I used it for about 20 minutes per day for 2 weeks (each followed by 5 minutes of a cold pack or cold water dunk) before I made a significant and lasting break through. I hope this tool will be just as helpful for you as it has been for me. Please tell them I sent you!

Once you realize that recurring pain is not just going away, you need to take action. Get some regular maintenance going ASAP, or come see me for some incredibly blissful deep tissue massage to really get in there and loosen things up.

5 Ways to Reduce Holiday Stress

12/8/2015

December can be an especially stressful month when work and family demands are requiring more of your attention. Here's 5 ways to help you reduce stress and keep your sanity this month:

1. Stay Hydrated - Dry skin, chapped lips, tight muscles? Staying hydrated will help you move easier and feel better. A tall, crisp glass of water is a super-easy way to help take the edge off.

2. Take a Walk - Get some sunshine on your face and cool air in your lungs. A walk is a good way to warm up for a run, but listen to your body. Even just a simple walk around the block can be the perfect pick-me-up.

3. Prioritize Self Care - Treat yourself to a warm bath, cozy nap, or stress-relieving massage. You can’t take good care of anybody else unless you take good care of yourself first.

4. Simplify Your Schedule - Notice what you really want and need. Get enough sleep, and stand up for your rest and recovery time. You deserve it!

5. Celebrate! - I hope you’ve got a little extra time off work to spend with friends or family this year. Enjoy the bounty of the holidays with people you love, and when you can, donate food or helpful items to those in need. When you give, your heart opens.

Savor the richness of the season, and have a fun and safe holiday.

Cupping for Injury Recovery

11/6/2015

Picture
Cupping vs. Compression
Instead of compressing your muscles, like deep tissue or Ashiatsu, cupping creates a vacuum which helps to pry loose adhesions and flush fresh, nutrient-rich blood to the root of the injury.

How does it work?
Cups can be placed around an injury or used to create a smooth vacuumed glide over the muscles. I use silicone cups that hug the curves of the body and are easily adjusted for comfort.
Believe me, you'll feel it. The sensation can be described as intense, hedonic, and quite profound.

Break Free from Injury
Cupping is a game changer for these common injuries:
  - Bicep and rotator cuff injuries
  - Tennis / golfers elbow
  - Plantar fasciitis
  - Overuse or repetitive-stress injuries

Cupping + Ashiatsu!
Bliss out while receiving cupping AND Ashiatsu massage at the same time. It's an optional addition, and there's no extra charge to try it. Let's free up those old, stubborn injuries ASAP.

Hi Everybody,

I tend to be resist posting things publicly, so starting a blog feels vulnerable, but one thing that I've learned in life and business is this:

There is BIG, f a t personal growth in moving *towards* things that feel challenging... AND there is great connection to be had through vulnerability.

So, in lieu of being brave, my goal and intention for the next *big vulnerable blog post* will be... video! And yes, one with me in it.

Go forth. Be brave. Big Love, ~Christina
